The Cocktail Party Girl

Thursday night at least at my school is party night! Yes, I'm a freshman so I am overexcited about these kind of things, but what's the second question that pops into your mind after someone invites you somewhere? In my world it's what the heck am I going to wear? So I sit and plan party outfits all the time especially in high school when life could be so uninteresting sometimes and I wasn't old enough or cool enough to go to the "real" parties.

I bought this skirt at Forever 21, Back to School Clearance for $2 a few years ago! It was the last one in only one size, *sigh* that's one of my best shopping/bargain deal moments. I stayed out late so the picture was sort of rushed so you can't see it here, but the top has some glitter embellishments. I actually bought this shirt to go with this skirt. I like the way the first half of the outfit has the typical elements of a cocktail dress, but then there's a bit of surprise fun with the mini skirt which suddenly becomes elegant enough to wear to a party because of the lace. Right now particularly I've had fashion filled fantasies of dresses with lace overlays, which are quite popular and maybe we'll see at least one at the upcoming SAG Awards and Oscars. The black tights of course is a fashionable winter look and essential. I've been dying to wear this look for a long time because it's the first time I've actually worn the skirt and I thought it deserved a great night out. ;)

**This is what i mean by the lace overlay, and this is the most elegant version I've seen and is designed by Zuhair Murad. But also check out Gossip Girl stylist Eric Daman's work. A-MAZING!
**Btw all pictures I post on this blog that aren't of me are taken from Google, Instyle, or Elle.
