Like my new word? This outfit is a combination of prep, geek chic and hipster if you really think about it. This was inspired by something else I saw someone wearing. I really can be a silent fashion admirer sometimes. I think it's great to be inspired by other people who we consider have a real sense of style. After all that's what we do with celebrities so why not include the real world too? Hence I have style muses in many places. I'm pretty sure everything is from Forever 21, but not the boots.
So the geek chic look is in and I do love it, although I'm kind of hoping it doesn't become too mainstream because then it will be boring. The glasses I'm wearing are the 3D movie glasses, just as a mock imitation of the real geek chic glasses since I don't wear them well. I had fun with this outfit. I have no problem with being preppy. It's my personal style and I've been in actual prep school for years. I was dying to try the bowtie look. Tell me what you think yay or nay? It was really fun to actually add a men's accessory concept to a feminine outfit. Although I wasn't initially a menswear trend fan, I think it can be fun for the girly girly if you mix it with girly pieces. Hence the miniskirt was a way to keep the outfit feminine and only slightly androgynous.
I encourage you to try the bowtie look in your own way because I had so much fun with it, and as well to mix the current trends. Such as hipster/bohemian, lace with hard edge pieces, or including rainbow jeans in a geek chic look. If you do it successfully send me pictures. I'd love to see. (My email is in other posts and in the about section.) So fashionistas have fun, spinning, slashing and mixing your unique personal style.
